Bandai 1/144 HG RX-75 ‘Guntank’

The Bandai 1/144 HG RX-75 ‘Guntank’ was one of my first loves instead of the RX-78 Gundam. I think when I was a boy when Gundam came out on cathode ray tube TV I am still more interested in planes and tanks and not so much on walking giant robots as it was not “real”.

There is not much to rave about this kit. I can’t even remember where I bought it, possible have been GalacticToys, because sometimes if you keep watching their site they do have some silly offers of kits also close to US$10 for HG!

Putting this kit together is a breeze, it comes in large pieces and it is just a matter of putting 2 together to form the base, a single mid-section and a torso. It is also a easy to paint as there are not too many small parts.

As usual, I would customise my kit to give it a bit more of “itisagunpla” flare! I super-glued (shhh!) a missile pod to the left shoulder, added anti-personnel Vulcan to the mid-section (just like old WW2 tanks), some additional lifting lugs to the chest, and a Surface to Air Missiles (SAM) to the back (but that came off as it is too back heavy for the glue).

There are nothing much to say about this kit, but I do like how the colour came out, as I have use a lot heavy pre-shading and a bit more post-shading to help bring out the edges of this simple kit.

I know there is a “re-imagined” of “newer” version of the Guntank for the “Origin” line, I do admit that it is a nice design, but I need to give credit to the first Guntank that got me hook into this franchise.
