Bandai 1/144 HG RX-78-2 Gundam (The Origin ver.)! I have been looking forward to this kit when it was first released. I was really impressed with the additional details and panel lines added to the legs, arms and chest. The details are almost like a mini MG.
The parts separations are also great, I am able to paint the parts separately to give help bring out the details are well. I opted to paint this RX-78 in G3 grey colour since I already have a few collections of the RX-78-2 red and blue colours.

DONATION: I NEED MORE PAINT!
Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope my works have gave you some inspiration and ideas for your next projects. As you know paints are getting a bit hard to find in hobby shops at the moment due to lockdown, and most of my paints are bought online with extra delivery costs. Please consider supporting me so that I can get more paint for the next project.

I also changed the backpack with a GM3 backpack to give it a pre-MK2 version look; this helps with my backstory as this the 3rd variants of the RX-78 and hence they are already started to experiment on new weaponry and design to help develop the MK2.

This is a side-by-side comparison to my EG RX-78. The EG is a great kit, I would recommend it for people starting out and wanted something handsome to work with. My EG colour scheme was inspired by Full Armour Gundam Green and Orange. This EG was a submission to a painting competition and although I did not win as there is only one winner, I was given very positive feedback. The origin version is my preferred kit because of the additional details and options.

This is a side-by-side comparison to my Beyond Global Gundam. Bandai has put in lots of articulation improvement to this Beyond Global kit, but I just do not like the design, especially the tapered torso. My Beyond Global Gundam is inspired by Thunderbolt Gundam colour scheme.

This is a side-by-side comparison to my Revive RX-78. This version Bandai attempt to revive the hobby by introducing a more modern HG version of Granddaddy! The shape is almost similar to the Origin version or I dare say the Origin version copied this design. I enjoyed building the revive version and I have to paint it in the original colour (of course!).

This is the side-by-side comparison to the actual original HG RX-78, this HG kit comes with a core fighter. I was inspired by Psycho Gundam when I was paining this kit. The backpack and shoulder cannon is actually from the Origin Version. This is not a bad kit, but just dated and lacking details.

I really enjoyed this build, this is by the best HG kit for RX-78-2. It has more details over the Revive and Global version, better looking design than the Global; but the only thing I hate about this kit is the head assembly! I wish they went for the old fashion method instead of trying to be clever with so many small parts to the head. That said I loved this kit!
