HG RX-78 GP01

Star Dust Memories, I really enjoyed this anime and the Mobile Suits design. This GP01 kit is old and quite hard to find in HG, but Bandai have released a RG recently.

I am not a fan of RG, it feels like too much work. I am a lazy builder.

I have shared the instruction manual for those for are interested. I am not claiming to be an expert modeller but I do like customising and air-brushing my kits, if you do like to see more of my projects please hit the ‘Like’ button below.

The HG build process is quite straight forward. As usual good quality Bandai mould, no flashings and minimal seam lines.

Fairly good detailing and to be fair a bit of panel lining and a matt coat will be fine.

I do like the straight lines and angular profile of this gundam.

Not much to say about this kit, limited pose and standing with a bit of knee bent is the best I can get.

The kit comes with a separate core fighter. I broke the attachment for the beam sabres hilt, but it actually looks alright without.

Would I recommend this kit?

It is a mixed bag of feelings. I really enjoyed this anime and the Mobile Suits design.

But this kit is old, and have very limited joint articulations. I also struggle to create other pose fearing that I will break something.

It has good colour separation which helps with painting.

I have no regret getting this kit and it looks good as it is on my shelf.
