Gelgoog goes BBBOOOooooMMMmmm!

The MS-14C Gelgoog Cannon is a modified version of the MS-14A Gelgoog. The Gelgoog Cannon have a specialized head unit and mount powerful beam cannon on a modified B-type backpack.

As the Gelgoog Cannon made use of the B-type’s powerful backpack, it had enough thrust to keep itself manoeuvrable despite the added weaponry. The suit soon proved itself a capable fire-support and anti-fleet unit.

My inspiration for this EFSF Gelgoog was from the iconic Stardust Memory where Ensign Chuck Keith who is a friend of the protagonist Ensign Kou Uraki was seen piloting a “captured” EFSF Gelgoog with a 2 finger peace sign.
In my backstory for this inspiration, is that Ensign Chuck Keith is a spacenoid and son of a low-ranking aristocrat and was involved with developing the very early version of Mobile Suits for civilian use.
His family migrated from the space colonies after the Zeon decided to redirect Mobile Suit development into war use and they lived on earth without revealing their identity.

With his upbringing in civic duty, Chuck Keith joined the Federation and after graduating from the military academy with the rank of Ensign he was stationed at the Torrington base in Australia.
He is an exceptional operator and was quickly assigned as a test pilot at Torrington to an MS-06F-2 Zaku II F2 Type. His day to day duty was to carry out mock combat against the new test machines that were usually piloted by an older and more experienced pilot.
During the mission to retrieve the RX-78GP02A and subsequent space battles against the Delaz Fleet, Chuck in the moment of intense battle to protect his lover Mora Boscht on board the Albion have intrinsically unlock his “New Type” abilities.
After the conflict, Chuck returns to Earth and is assigned to Oakley Base in North America, where he pilots an MS-14F Gelgoog Marine. Chuck been a “closet” New Type, has proven himself and earned a to command a unit of captured Zeon Suits and defected Zeon pilots.

It was rumoured within the ranks of the ex-Zeon pilots they know the real Chuck Keith, and hence started calling him the “Baron” in honour of his family status.
Mora has also requested to be assigned to the Oakley Base to be Chuck’s Chief Mechanic and also to spend more time with “Baron” Chuck Keith.
Mora’s mechanic team has built up a reputation for salvaging damaged Zeon Mobile Suits and retro fitted them to usable units.

“Baron” Chuck Gelgoog has been modified to Gelgoog Cannon which Chuck prefers since he is familiar with his GM Cannon 2 during the Stardust Memories.
Mora also knowing Chuck New Type abilities has pimp his Gelgoog with parts that was rumoured to come from Char’s MS-14S. The part noteworthy is the cockpit and computer inside still has the configuration set up for New Type (Char’s) use.
The Red left arm from Char’s Gelgoog has earned Chuck the new call sign “Red Baron”.

This is a side-by-side comparison to Bandai MS-14F Gelgoog Marine which I have repainted it to looks like Char’s “Red Comet” Gelgoog.
I really like the style of the MS-14F Gelgoog Marine and the MS-14FS Commander Type which is the personal machine piloted by Cima Garahau.
Mobile Suits from the “Stardust Memories” era look more mechanical when compared to earlier moulding of the MS-14A variant.

This side-by-side comparison with a Zaku 2 is mainly because the MS-14 Gelgoog is basically the same as the MS-14S Gelgoog commanded by Char’s. In the storyline, Char’s Zaku 2 was no match to RX-78-2 Gundam hence Zeon has upgraded his personal Mobile Suit to MS-14S Gelgoog which on paper should be on par or much more advance than the Granddaddy.
You can clearly see that the Gelgoog appears to be “steroid” in-fused jacked-up version of Zaku 2.

I bought this kit from my mate Ching To for £21.99 back in March 2023 which includes postage; in terms of buying Bandai model kits from UK I will say it is very competitive especially when you consider shipping from overseas and this is a very rare kit.
I also do not reside in a major city in the UK; hence buying a Bandai model kit from High Street comic shops is relatively difficult unless I am travelling for work.
Ching To operates mainly from a Facebook group where he is able to source ‘Gunpla’ and other overseas model kits, this works for me as I only buy kits which I am interested and if they are available. If you are interested please take a look at his website and sign up to his Facebook group for his latest stock.

And finally, the first 3 Mobile Suits that went head to head with MS-14 Gelgoog is the Federation Operation V Mobile Suits the RX-78-2 Gundam, Guncannon and Guntank.
In the anime or manga, all 3 Federation Mobile Suit struggled initially to go head to head with the Gelgoog because it was so much faster.
That said, you can see the MS-14 Gelgoog appears to be larger than the Federation’s machines.
